Raiser’s Edge Database View is Going Away on September 15

What breaks at your organization on September 16?

For most Raiser’s Edge organizations, the challenge isn’t losing the data. It’s everything your team still does around that data — gift processing, reporting, Crystal Reports, integrations, imports and exports, forms, acknowledgments and years of familiar processes.

What this means for your organization

Your processes will change
Your processes and workflows for gift processing, reporting, mailing, events and data management will all work differently in Web View.
Plug-ins and integrations will stop working
Database View plug-ins are going away, and third-party tools that relied on Database View access will no longer work.
Your custom workarounds will break
If your organization has built workarounds in Raiser’s Edge — like renaming fields or storing data in unique ways — those workarounds will not transition to Web View, and you’ll need new solutions.
Some functionality will be different or disappear
Some things will be better in Web View. Some will be the same, but require training and a new process. Some functions (particularly things you were doing in OLX and NetCommunity) will need to be replaced entirely if they aren’t included in Web View.
This could be an opportunity to save money
As Blackbaud improves functionality in Web View, organizations may discover that they no longer need to pay for extra third-party software to make their data work inside Raiser’s Edge NXT.
Your staff needs time
DBAs and gift processors will need time to learn the new processes and system, test new solutions and document your new procedures. And they’ll need to do all this while they continue to do their full-time jobs.

Not sure what’s green, yellow or red at your organization?

We’ll tell you what will break, what will change and what to do next.

Does any of this sound familiar?

If you're doing any of these things, it's time to take action before it's too late.

  • Your team still processes gifts in Database View.
  • You depend on Crystal Reports, custom reports or legacy Database View reporting.
  • You run imports, exports or Global Changes in Database View.
  • You use Online Express for forms or email.
  • You still use NetCommunity.
  • You rely on plug-ins, customizations or third-party integrations.
  • Your organization has customized fields or long-standing workarounds built inside Database View.
  • Your acknowledgments, pledge reminders or other mail processes still rely on Database View.
  • Your staff hasn't moved processes over to Web View and doesn't understand what is changing.
  • There's no one person in your office who truly understands all the details of what's happening and how you need to prepare

Database View is going away. You don’t need to panic, but you do need a plan.

The larger your organization, the harder this gets if you wait.

Colleges, universities, healthcare foundations, K–12 organizations and other complex Raiser’s Edge operations have more workflows, more integrations, more gift volume and more people to retrain. It will take time to get your office ready for the transition so that gifts keep flowing smoothly and donors don't notice any changes.

The earlier you start, the less painful it will be to make the transition.

We know Raiser’s Edge.

PSG manages more than 10 million records inside Raiser’s Edge. Our database experts work in the system every day for nonprofits across the country, and we participate extensively in Blackbaud’s Early Adopter Programs so we can test new functionality as it develops.

We don’t just study this transition. We’re living it and migrating our own processes out of Database View for clients all across the country.
